technician training and a wide variation in their claims and pricing, it’s no
surprise that many people are confused and even apprehensive about getting a
professional carpet cleaner into their home or business.
From my 25 years experience, I’ve found some people put off cleaning their carpets
altogether through fear of making a poor choice of carpet cleaner, and this is
often reinforced by news of scams on BBC’s Watchdog and Rogue Traders.
The large number of ‘cheap and cheerful’ carpet cleaners doing a very poor job
albeit for a cheap price (its not really cheap if you wasted your money on a
lousy job), only makes things worse.
I’ve personally experienced and seen both very high quality carpet cleaning, and
truly awful carpet cleaning ( I became a carpet cleaner in 1989 after having
someone in who did a terrible job and left my carpets wet for days, smelling
awful, and looking no different when they eventually dried. I decided I could
do better, and set out to do so), and while poor carpet cleaning can damage
your carpets, a well trained, experienced carpet cleaner who knows and loves
his job can keep your carpets looking beautiful for many years. We have a
client who has used us every year since 1990 and we are still cleaning the same
carpets and they still look good – 23 years later!
